What's SUP

Hi I’m Chelsey!

Basically, I have the best job in the world! I combine my expertise in marine biology with my passion for the ocean and adventure to guide you through an incredible experience.

When I created What’s SUP Paddleboarding in 2013, I quickly discovered that my heart belongs to the ocean and being able to share this with others and give back to the environment is very fulfilling for me. I am EMR certificate (Emergency Medical Responder) and have been playing and working with the ocean for over 12 years. Born and raised in a small town in Iowa, I moved to Florida when I was 18. It’s no surprise that I gravitated right to the ocean and immediately took up surfing, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Followed my career goals in Marine Biology, I earning a Bachelors of Science degree from Florida International University.

Before starting What’s SUP Paddleboarding, I worked for Volusia County Marine Science Center in the Sea Turtle hospital on the animal care staff and in the educational program. Later I ventured to New Orleans Aquarium working as an Aquarist. I had some of the most amazing experiences in New Orleans, such as training alligators, hand feeding penguins, and scuba diving in the shark exhibit. Eventually, my thirst for the salt life brought me back to South Florida. That said, and was able to put my vision of What’s SUP Paddleboarding into reality. My mission is to share my enthusiasm for adventure and knowledge of the water with people like you. My most memorable moments are when I meet people that are completely new to paddleboarding or even the water in general.

One of the most important pillars of What’s SUP Paddleboarding is that I have the power to give back to the environment and local community. Having helped organize and participate in water way cleanups, charity events and making donations to different organizations.

ORGANIZATIONS THAT I'VE WORKED WITH TO RAISE AWARENESS ARE:

Paddleboarding for Breast Cancer
Surfers for Autism Fundraiser

In my free time, you can find me snorkeling around the local reefs, surfing and riding my bike. It’s safe to say that the ocean is my life, literally!
