Get a taste for restoring the Oysters Habitat.

Play in currents and safely glide over and around the oysters' mounds with the help of your guide. For low tide we investigate spoil and mangrove islands. But experienced kayakers may be taken into the maze of Oysters. Good paddle control is required when the swift currents around Oyster Reefs are ripping. Mid tide is actually the trickiest to avoid scraping to a halt on the Oysters hiding just below the surface. But if you remain present and read the ripples of the water, we can navigate a fun and disorienting oyster reef field.

Dolphins frolic and yachts cruise by. Since 1948, a legendary Fish Camp launches directly into the Matanzas River Oyster Fields under the SR 206 bridge in Crescent Beach.

Tours that launch from Genung’s Fish Camp feature the bounty of nature and seafood sustainability and the importance of wildlife management. Talk about resource preservation. See shoreline restoration in progress. Discuss changing climate, rising sea levels, pollution, extinction, over population… then rejoice with the many ways we are all working together to turn things around.
